Books and downloadable resources

These are the things I make when I can see a gap between what a child or learner is capable of understanding and the way the material is being presented to them. Some are for younger children, some are for matric learners. All are created with neurodivergent, gifted and twice-exceptional brains in mind.

For younger children: Hadeda Has Opinions is the first in a picture-book series set in the same South African animal world. The recurring cast includes Hadeda, Warthog, Rabbit, Starling, Pangolin, Mongoose and Otter, each bringing a different way of noticing, processing, reacting and coping. They are characters first, not diagnoses in disguise. The stories are there to help children recognise the bits that feel familiar and to help the adults around them look underneath the behaviour at the social, emotional, sensory and thinking load that may have been building.

For matric literature: The Other Way In study guides are for learners who can understand the text and the ideas but do not need to wade through pages and pages of dense notes to prove it. The guides help learners get hold of the setwork, organise what they know, revise it properly and turn that understanding into essays and exam answers without flattening the literature. Current guides cover Hamlet, Othello, Brave New World, My Children! My Africa! and The Picture of Dorian Gray, with more in the works. If there is a prescribed text you would like me to tackle next, please let me know. Requests genuinely help me decide what to build.
